SPE STUDENT CHAPTER CHARITY EXPLORE RACE
RULES AND REGULATIONS
1. Every team must register themselves on 23rd of November before 10 am.
2. Every team is compulsory to attend for the briefing as race details, direction and clue cards will be provided during the briefing.
3. Race number provided by the organizer should be wear by the participants throughout the whole race.
4. Participants are not allowed to enter the transition areas WITHOUT the race numbers.
5. All team members must travel together throughout the whole race. A team will be disqualified if travelling without any of the team member.
6. All team members must present at the checkpoint.
7. Participants are prohibited from using any vehicles during the race.
8. If any team member could not continue the race due to certain reason, other team members must stay with that person until the race marshals reach him/her.
9. Contact or/and get assistance from the crew or other friends not are not involved in the race will be result in disqualification. ONLY assistance from other competing team is allowable.
10. Rules, regulations and instructions from the marshals of the race should be followed and obeyed throughout the whole race for the safety purpose.
11. The race organize/marshal reserves the right to disqualify any team for not following the instruction given by them.
12. Race organizer/marshal’s decision during the race is final. Any arguments will cause the disqualification of the team.
13. The race organizer reserves the right to change the rules anytime according to the situation.
14. The ranking of the race is determined by program jury and the decision is final. Any complains will not be entertained.

WITS CHALLENGE:
Guideline:
1) “Witz Challenge” is a pop quiz that will be joining by a group of 5 people where they will be tested on their knowledge in petroleum engineering.
2) This competition is open to any undergraduate students who dominates science in Petroleum and
Geothermal Industry such as Petroleum Engineering, Geology, Geophysics and Petrochemical.
3) Total groups are 8.
4) Total questions are 30.
Rules and Regulations
1) The quiz will be conducted in English.
2) The quizmaster will ask the question, and repeat once. After the quizmaster open for answers then only the participant starts to grab the chance to answer the question. Participant must ring the bell in front of him/her before giving any answer. First come first serve basis will be applied throughout the quiz. After he/she rings the bell, the teammates must stop discussing and only answer from him/her will be allowed. Assistance from the teammate will cause disqualification for that particular question.
3) If he answers wrongly, then the question will be opened to other group to answer it.
4) If the next group still fail to answer it, then the quizmaster will tell the answer.
5) 10 marks will be given to a correct answer. If the question is opened to other group, only 5 marks will be given for the correct answer.
6) Participant needs to give the answer within one minute.
7) The quizmaster only accepts the answer he or she hears.
8) Once a question is passed over, it cannot be passed back to the original team.
9) Rearranged fixtures will NOT be allowed, except in extreme circumstances, such as bereavement.
10) The team who has scored the highest number of game points will be the winner. The number of points scored against a team is totally irrelevant.
Rule changes
1. Competition rules are subject to change. Any rules changes, clarifications, and/or addenda will be announced to all participating universities and during the technical meeting before the competition.

VISUAL ART COMPETITION
General guidelines
· A two-dimensional (flat) visual arts project dealing with the topic “Health, Safety and Environment”. Each visual arts project must be original, authentic, unpublished, the sole property and work of the entrant. If the visual art that is submitted found to be plagiarized the submission will be disqualified immediately.
· Require at least one image and maximum two images.
· Create effective slogan and it needs to be short, direct, and loaded with meaning.
· Personal information of entrants and a one- to two-sentence description of what the image demonstrates printed on the visual arts project.
· Provide a synopsis of visual art project.
· Avoid script type’s font which are hard to read.
· All visual art should be in A4 size. Once you are announced as the visual art contestant, you are required to print out the poster before the event day.
· An example of the original data and brief descriptions of the method of collection and purpose of the experiment must be taped securely to the back of the poster. (Cite references for published data.)
· Entrants may work individually or in teams.
· All entries must meet competition guidelines
· The decision of the judges in selecting the winners is final. Any complains will not be entertained.
The visual art must deal with an aspect of Health, Safety and Environment. From all areas of research and related disciplines are eligible to participate. This includes human, physical, environmental and applied knowledge and innovative idea.
Visual Art Judging Criteria
1) Artwork prizes will be presented to entrants who have demonstrated outstanding research, visual and written skills through a visual art and abstract.
The poster selection criteria are:
· Entrants are the first author of the artwork
· Work is of high quality and has been done by the entrants.
· Abstract clearly describes the work and includes results.
· Create works of art that are original and represent personal expression
2) At the time of judging the judges will evaluate:
1. Clarity of presentation.
2. Depth of knowledge.
3. Degree of the understanding present in the artwork.
4. Creativity and relevance to and incorporation of the topic.

MUD COMPETITION
General guidelines
1. This competition is open to all undergraduate student and postgraduate student who major in Petroleum Engineering , Petrochemical and any related courses
2. All participants must be listed as active student by their university until the end of the competition.
3. This competition is divided into two categories that are undergraduate and postgraduate student; any changes will be further announced.

5. Competition rules are subject to change. Any rules changes, clarifications, and/or addenda will be announced to all participants. A brief explanation will be given before the competition starts.
6. The objective of this competition is to obtain the best mud composition based on given criteria and individual additives which can increase the mud efficiency that is suitable to be used in drilling.
7. Participants will be allocated time to do the experiment in the drilling lab at Faculty of Petroleum and Renewable Energy and the data must be collected in the lab. Second session will be conducted in the afternoon at Dewan Sultan Iskandar (DSI). Participants can refer to the timetable for the event date* at http//:www.ogtec2011.blogspot.com
8. Participants will present their results obtained from their experiments to the judges and will be evaluated based on the given criteria.
9. Participants will be given basic consumable material in making mud that is bentonite, Sodium Chloride (NaCl), Potassium Chloride (KCl), Ferrochrome lignite, Ferrochrome lignosulfonate, Sodium hydroxide (NaOH), Barite.
10. All the equipments and apparatus in testing the mud will be provided by the Drilling Lab.
11. The number of participant for this competition is limited and will be selected based on given question.
12. The juries and organizer decision is final and any objection will not be entertained.
Judging Criteria
The mud that is done will be tested based on the properties and the mud temperature will be recorded during testing.
1. Mud density(ppg)
2. Plastic viscosity (cp)
3. Apparent viscosity(cp)
4. Yield point (1 lb/100 sq.ft)
5. Gel Strength (10 sec and 10 minutes)
6. pH
7. Filtrate Volume (cc) for 30 minutes
8. Mud cake thickness (/32 in.)
9. Mud Resistivity(ohm-meter)
Participant also will be evaluated based on the cost making the mud and also the environmental friendly of the mud itself.
The judging process will be conducted in two stages. First is the screening process and will be selected based on the idea given on the registration form. Second stage will be conducted at the lab and will be presented in slides to the judges during the event.
